Groundworks Sponsors the Ambler Area Running Club Phils 5K
Community involvement is at the heart of what we do at Groundworks. Not only do we help our neighbors create safer and healthier homes, but we firmly believe in returning the blessings we’ve been given.
We proudly sponsored and had a booth featured at the Phils Tavern 5K. Presented by the Ambler Area Running Club, the event was held on Aug. 7, 2024, at the Temple University Ambler Campus in Ambler, PA.
Running For A Good Cause
The Ambler Area Running Club (AARC) is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America.
AARC’s mission is to foster local running and racing, share running-related information, organize social events, and create training opportunities for runners of all skill levels in a supportive environment. The club’s activities are designed to contribute positively to community well-being.
AARC hosts several annual events, including the Fireside Frostbite 5-Miler in February and Phils Tavern Quarter Marathon Race in July. The club also offers weekly fun runs and seasonal track workouts. Additionally, AARC conducts classes, group runs, safety programs, and clinics. It extends support to other local non-profit organizations in their running and walking event initiatives.
Having a Far-Reaching Impact
Proceeds from the event, as well as other donations, benefit three local charitable organizations selected by the AARC: Girls on the Run of Southeastern Suburban PA, I’m Still Running, and Safe Harbor.
Girls on the Run of Southeastern Suburban PA teaches essential life skills to school-aged girls. I’m Still Running honors the memory of a local marathon runner and benefits animals in need. Safe Harbor offers free, continuing grief support groups and camps.
Additionally, proceeds and donations from the 5K also support scholarships for four local high schools: Upper Dublin High School, North Penn High School, Wissahickon High School, and Hatboro-Horsham High School.
