Groundworks Partners with Habitat for Humanity for Home Builds
Event Recap
This year, the team at Groundworks’ Pennsylvania branches, formerly Baker’s Waterproofing, partnered with Habitat for Humanity. As part of the companywide Build Together 2024 initiative, employees assisted in home builds for members of the local communities.
Groundworks donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. Part of the Goodworks program, this partnership gives 5,000 employees the chance to volunteer in 63 communities throughout the year.
The Central PA Team
In September, employees teamed with Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity. They hosted volunteers at a new home build where they hung drywall and prepped interior trim for painting.
“We can do what we do because volunteers keep us moving forward,” said Program Manager Jaclyn Gilbert. “We appreciate [Baker’s Waterproofing] and other organizations that partner with us to build homes, communities, and hope!”

The Pittsburgh Team
Volunteers from the Pittsburgh office spent the day at the ReStore for Washington County Habitat for Humanity. Habitat ReStores are independently owned reuse stores in which the sales from donated items help Habitat for Humanity partner with local families to build, rehabilitate, and repair safe and affordable homes in the community.
The team helped improve the Restore with painting and general clean up, and Groundworks’ hours would be dedicated to future Habitat for Humanity homeowner Nicol.
To qualify for a home, Nicol needs to complete 350-400 volunteer hours. Working full-time, she often must prioritize care for her son, who has special needs, leaving little time to focus on meeting this requirement. The team was thrilled to contribute to her journey by helping her clock some of those much-needed hours.
