Event Recap: Honoring Coastal History and Tradition

On June 14th, 2025, Tar Heel Basement Systems proudly returned as the display sponsor for the 67th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament at Big Rock Landing.

The iconic North Carolina Coast event, which has a rich history dating back many decades, draws over 250 boats and nearly 1,600 competitors each year in pursuit of big wins—and even bigger marlins. As the event has grown, so has its commitment to conservation and community impact.

This marked our second consecutive year sponsoring the tournament, and our team hosted an engaging onsite booth. The event provided a unique opportunity to meet with local families, passionate anglers, and conservation advocates, further strengthening our connection to the Eastern North Carolina community.

A “Reel” Record-Breaker

With a regional focus and massive draw, this summertime favorite unites participants around a shared mission: sport, sustainability, and community connection.

This year’s 67th annual event was one for the books. A total of 272 boats competed for an impressive $6.3 million prize pool. Participants achieved a record-breaking 420 billfish releases throughout the event, including 238 blue marlin. BIG TROUBLE claimed victory with their massive 517.1-pound blue marlin catch.
