The project involved addressing significant settlement of 13 large hinge slabs at a Home Depot facility. These slabs measured 32′ x 25′ and were over 12 inches thick, with an average settlement of 7.5 inches. The challenge was not only the size and thickness of the slabs but also the need to lift and stabilize them efficiently without disrupting the daily business operations of Home Depot.

The Solution

Strategic injection and collaboration for minimal disruption.

Groundworks’ team designed and identified optimal injection points to ensure the slabs would be lifted evenly and effectively. Using Groundworks’ proprietary polymer, the team stabilized the weak soils beneath the slabs and gradually lifted them back to their original position. To minimize disruption to Home Depot’s operations, Groundworks worked closely with the facility team, ensuring access and scheduling were coordinated so the repairs caused minimal interference with business activities.

13 slabs lifted within 1/8″ of their original elevation.

The result of the project was highly successful, with all 13 slabs lifted within 1/8″ of their original elevation. The entire job was completed in just 4 shifts, allowing Home Depot to avoid the need for costly and time-consuming slab replacement. This efficient repair not only saved significant costs but also mitigated operational interruptions, ensuring business continuity during the repair process.
