History
In 2005, Steven and Kelly Egloff founded Bay Area Underpinning with the goal of providing a cost-effective, engineered solution to foundation settlement problems with an emphasis on educating customers. In 2023, BAU partnered with Groundworks, the nation’s leading and fastest growing foundation repair and water management solutions provider, to offer the best products in the industry and provide elite business management resources to their employees. BAU will now operate under the Groundworks name, while continuing to improve the customer experience and provide expertise and guidance from San Jose to Sacramento.

We had an inspection to diagnose some cracking drywall and low spots. Jason Dye was our inspector and did an amazing job. Jason was very professional and courteous. He quickly pinpointed trouble areas before his visual inspection with his tools and provided solutions for our issues. I would definitely recommend Jason and BAU for your foundation needs.

We had an amazing service experience from David and Rico of Bay Area Underpinning. David and Rico were very professional, super nice, and worked hard on leveling my floor. They arrived on time after giving me a call earlier to let me know they are on the way. They put on shoe covers to make sure my floor is protected. They patiently listened to my inputs and addressed my concerns with competence and great care. And they would not leave until all the uneven floor areas are fixed to my satisfaction. This team deserves my 5 star rating.

We recently purchased a home in San Jose. In the report it stated that our home was fine and no foundation issues were noted. Upon moving in my wife noticed some cracks started to appear on the walls around the house. We contacted Bay Area underpinning to have them come and inspect our house. A couple of days before our appointment, Jim Rivera gave us a call to confirm the day and time of the appointment. This was the first positive experience we had with Jim and BAU. On the day of the appointment Jim called to let us know that he was 30 minutes away and showed up right on time. Once he arrived he listened to the issues we were noticing and then he went to work. He brought in some hi-tek tools and explained to us what the readings meant. Jim was extremely thorough and personable. He clearly has a lot of knowledge and showed us a bunch of photos that he took while he was in our crawlspace as well as photos of some exterior things that he noticed. Overall he said our home was in great condition with only minimal issues that we should address. He was very patient in answering all of our questions and provided us with a quote when he was finished. We were pleasantly surprised that the cost was very reasonable and comes with a lifetime warranty. We will be giving our business to Jim and Bay Area Underpinning. As a new home owner we were terrified of what the cost could be to fix our home. Jim really helped us understand what was going on and we would suggest that anyone who is having similar foundation issues like ours, we highly recommend that you should call Jim Rivera and Bay Area Underpinning.

I will sleep much better tonight. I noticed a crack in my foundation and called Bay Area Underpinning. Hunter came out and walked the entire property and went underneath. He identified one other issue that I knew about besides the crack and told me they could fix that too. I had no idea you call structural engineers for chimneys. His quote was fair to me and you can't beat the warranty. Today Jesus Villagomes and Erick Baez came out and fixed the crack, they also looked around underneath and reassured me AGAIN that my house was in good shape. Because I caught it early they were able to fill the crack and then add a carbon fiber exposy seal. They also sealed the crack from the outside, even though they had already filled it in under the house. They were professional, answered all my questions, no matter how many and honestly were just pleasant to work with. They also explained my maintenance plan so I knew what to expect. I would absolutely recommend this entire team, to stay professionally kind in high heat is amazing.

My friend recommended this company and their tech Jason Dye to me, so I requested a foundation inspection/estimate. Jason is very responsive. He would text me and let me know the ETA when he was on the way. After he arrived, he checked everything very carefully. He gave me some good suggestions to help maintain foundation in a good shape, and even helped me set up the extension pipes from gutter downspouts. I enjoyed our communication and is very happy with his service. And he is super friendly to my dog!

A huge thank you to Jason! Since we moved into our house a year and a half ago, we've been hearing a strange wood-rubbing sound quite frequently. After doing some research online, I suspected there might be an issue with the foundation, so I reached out to Bay Area Underpinning, one of the few foundation companies that offer free on-site estimates. Jason Dye arrived right on time, carefully checked for any cracks, assessed the foundation levels, and measured the moisture level in the crawl space with their tools. He then provided his professional opinions. Jason is really nice, honest, and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

BAU did a great job on my ADU that had a serious moisture problem that was causing the building to deteriorate. I couldn't remove the tile without replacing it all at a large expense so they did the whole job in a very cramped crawl space. The guys they sent out were great and finished with everything in one day!!!

We just bought a house and literally every single metal pier in the crawlspace was rusted out. Bay Are Underpinning came in and did an awesome job. Their inspector Aaron was super thorough in assessing the damage and explained everything in detail. Then, the repair crew of Eric, Jesus, and Andrew came in and knocked out the entire job in a day — a huge relief considering we had a ton of other work we need to get done before moving in. The work is not cheap, but they offer financing options and stand by their work, so I feel very good about the entire job.
