Groundworks Names Former TruGreen CEO, David Alexander, to Board of Directors
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (June 5, 2019) – Groundworks, the nation’s largest privately-held foundation services company, announced today that it has appointed David Alexander, former President and CEO of TruGreen, to its board of directors effective June 3, 2019.
“David is an extremely accomplished leader with a wealth of experience in all facets of the home services industry. As we expand nationally, David’s deep experience leading multibillion-dollar national brands is a welcome addition to our board,” said Matt Malone, Groundworks Chairman and CEO. “We look forward to the mentorship, development, and guidance he will bring to our executive team leaders as we continue to reshape and evolve an industry.”
Over the last three years, Groundworks has acquired nine companies, opened four organic offices and has grown from serving customers in just Virginia to providing foundation services across 12 states.
Alexander has served as Chief Executive Officer of numerous national brands. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of TruGreen. Alexander joined TruGreen in 2012 and led their turnaround. He retired in late 2018. Today, TruGreen is a leading home services company serving 2.3 million residential and commercial customers annually, with more than 260 branches and an annual revenue of $1.3 billion.
Prior to TruGreen, Alexander served as President and CEO to several national retail brands including serving as President and COO of Family Dollar Stores, a Fortune 500 discount retailer that grew to produce nearly $6 billion in revenue during his tenure.
