Groundworks Kicks Off 2023 with Donation to Operation Warm
The partnership provided over 1,000 pairs of shoes to children in need.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Jan. 30, 2023) – The team at Groundworks®, the nation’s leading and fastest-growing foundation and water management solutions company, believes all people put their boots on the same way – no matter their age, location or profession. To further reinforce that belief, Groundworks teamed up with Operation Warm to provide more than 1,000 pairs of brand-new shoes to children in need across the country.
To kick off the partnership, the foundation services company gave 216 pairs of new shoes to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia at their annual Kickoff Conference for 2,000 employees at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
“’Everyone puts their boots on the same way’ is a core value at Groundworks,” said Matt Malone, founder and chief executive officer at Groundworks. “We provide a new pair of boots to our employees each year to celebrate their hard work and dedication. We are honored to partner with Operation Warm, an organization that understands the impact a new pair of shoes can have on the members of our community, especially now as cold weather brings a critical need for quality footwear.”
The donation to Operation Warm will support various organizations across the country to provide new shoes to children in local communities where Groundworks serves. This partnership is part of the “Goodworks by Groundworks” program where employees are encouraged to support their local communities through non-profit partnership and volunteerism.
“The adage to understand people is to walk a mile in their shoes fits our mission of giving back,” said Malone. Other programs include Habitat for Humanity, One Warm Coat and The Salvation Army.
“We’re excited to partner with Groundworks to provide children with new shoes in communities across the country,” said Grace Sica, executive director at Operation Warm. “A gift as simple as a brand-new pair of shoes has a lasting impact on a child’s life.”
Tanisha McGuaghey, director of community engagement at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia, sees parents struggle to put food on the table and a roof over families’ heads. “Groundworks’ donation of shoes to our members is not only extremely generous, but also a major help to our parents, who can now scratch new shoes off of their list of things to purchase in this near year,” she said. “Providing new shoes literally puts young people on the path to success.”
