Groundworks Supports Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation Through the “Murph Challenge”

Over 60 employees participated in the physical feat

For the fourth consecutive year, Groundworks employees and their families participated in a nationwide physical fitness challenge in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy over the Memorial Day holiday. More than 60 employees completed the “Murph Challenge,” which consists of a one-mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another one-mile run, for time. The challenge is not only a physical test, but also a mental and emotional one. Participants are encouraged to push through the pain and exhaustion, just as Lt. Murphy experienced in his final moments.

“At Groundworks, we often talk about pushing ourselves to grow and reaching our maximum potential,” said Malone. “I encourage our employees to push themselves in ways they never thought possible in honor of the men and women who serve our great country.”

Lt. Murphy was a United States Navy SEAL officer who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the war in Afghanistan. This challenge is in honor of him and so many others who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
