"I need to apologize to Gavin and Jonathan for not writting this review soon enough, I simply got tied up and forgot until I found the review form. I do hope they can still win any company benefits because they were the best workings I have talked to in a ling time. Informative of the steps, respectful and careful of my property and of course doing the job quicker than I could get pictures of it.
And unfortunately I cant recall the Project Managers name, but his card is here on my desk somewhere, and he was very helpful on working with me on raising my porch. A previous company told me they had a minimal cost of $1,500 for the foam injections, where AFS did the whole job for a little over that amount as they do so much, they have no minimal charge.
He also told me the 3 jacks I had been quoted by other services was not needed (I knew that, but he confirmed my knowledge and earned my respect by telling me the truth).
So hopefully all 3 will win any company benefits for this, I very seldom give 5 stars, only when a company fully exceeds my expectations. At least now I do not have to worry about my porch falling into the abyss."
Common Causes of your Concrete Problems in Gadsden
Ever wondered why sidewalks and driveways in your area sometimes look uneven or sunken? This common issue can often be traced back to the soil and climate patterns unique to regions like Gadsden, Alabama. In many neighborhoods, clay-rich soils can expand and contract significantly based on moisture levels, a process that is further influenced by local rainfall patterns. Seasonal moisture swings can cause the ground to shift when wet, leading to an initial buoyancy that may later result in settlement as the soil dries and contracts. This cycle can pave the way for voids beneath concrete slabs, making them susceptible to sinking or becoming uneven over time.
When these shifts occur, homes in the area could face foundation stress and compromised stability. Early signs of distress often include cracked concrete, misaligned walkways, or pooling water after rain. These are crucial indicators that the ground beneath has moved, and timely detection is key to preventing further damage. Understanding how local conditions like clay-rich soil and variable moisture levels impact your foundation and surrounding concrete can help mitigate future risks. By addressing these problems early, you help maintain the structural integrity of your home and prevent issues such as uneven floors, sticking doors, and the potential for water intrusion that could lead to costly repairs.

Foam lifting is typically a good solution if your concrete slabs are sinking but are still in good condition without significant cracks. It's less invasive compared to traditional methods, and provides a quick fix with minimal downtime. A concrete lifting professional can assess your specific situation to determine if foam lifting is appropriate for your needs.
Yes, tree roots can contribute to concrete sinking or cracking. As roots grow, they can lift the concrete slab, causing it to crack or become uneven. It's important to manage tree root growth near concrete surfaces to prevent such issues.
In Gadsden, soil composition and weather conditions such as heavy rainfall or drought can significantly impact concrete stability. Clay-rich soil tends to expand and contract with moisture changes, leading to concrete movement. Proper drainage and regular maintenance can help mitigate these effects.
Yes, burrowing animals like moles, gophers, and rodents can remove soil from underneath concrete slabs, leading to sinking. Similarly, some insects can cause erosion or damage that destabilizes the ground, contributing to concrete sinking.
