"The crew that came out from AFS to install 6 pillars were fantastic. They are Josh B Bailey L Isaiah W Kuda They worked awesome as a team!!! The work was explained to me what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, and what materials they were using. Answered any and all questions. One of the points they made was they would dig down till they hit rock, well here in Mt. Juliet you don’t have to dig very far as a matter of fact footer sat on rock ( 5 of 6 did) These men had jackhammers to bust out rock a foot down them undermine the footer 6” in order to get pillars in. They worked for two days jackhammering to accomplish this task. They worked together not just one doing all the work, they were awesome!!! Hard to find good workers like that anymore!!! It would be nice if they had a hoe ram attachment for their mini-x Would have saved them time and their backs. Once again they Never Slacked!!! I would highly recommend this group to do any of your work you need done ! They respected our home , yard and dogs:)! They were very professional Thank you we appreciate it very much I would like to give 10 starts but not an option. Call em you won’t be sorry you did !!!"

Common Causes of your Crawl Space Problems in Old Hickory

Noticing musty odors or sinking floors in your home? These issues are often linked to crawl space problems that can arise from the unique environmental conditions of Old Hickory. The region experiences significant moisture fluctuations, which affect the soil conditions surrounding many homes. Soil retains moisture, leading to expansion, while dry periods cause contraction. This cycle can affect the stability of your crawl space over time. Additionally, some local areas may have poor drainage capabilities, which further exacerbates moisture retention, creating ideal conditions for problems beneath your floors.

When soil expands and contracts, it can place stress on your home's crawl space, leading to structural concerns like sagging floors or gaps around doors and windows. In Old Hickory, issues such as excess moisture can also promote mold growth and invite pests, both of which can compromise air quality and structural integrity. Early signs often include visible cracks in walls or uneven floors. Addressing these problems early on is crucial because prolonged exposure can lead to more significant issues, increasing repair costs. Maintaining awareness of these conditions helps prevent further damage and ensures your home remains a safe and healthy environment.

FAQs

The cost to remove mold from a crawl space typically ranges from $500 to $6,000, depending on the severity of the mold infestation and the size of the area that needs treatment. It's best to get a professional assessment for a more accurate estimate.

The best way to waterproof a crawl space foundation is to install a combination of a vapor barrier, a perimeter drainage system, and a sump pump. This approach helps prevent water infiltration, controls moisture levels, and efficiently directs water away from the crawl space.

Sagging or bouncy floors are often caused by inadequate support in the crawl space, such as weakened joists or failing support beams. This can be due to moisture damage, pest infestation, or the natural settling of the home. A professional crawl space evaluation is necessary to determine the exact cause.

We offer a comprehensive warranty on our crawl space structural repairs. The warranty terms and coverage details, including duration, vary depending on the specific services performed. Please contact us for more information tailored to your situation.

The most common causes of structural damage in crawl spaces include excessive moisture, poor ventilation, wood rot, pest infestations (such as termites), and inadequate construction or settling of the foundation. Regular inspections can help identify issues early and prevent significant damage.
