Storage Bay Slab Rehabilitation at Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport
The Challenge
A settling slab inside a hangar created unsafe tripping hazards and allowed water to enter and pool through bay doors.
The Solution
Injecting polyurethane to lift slabs back to level and mitigate water movement.
The Impact
Leveled concrete in just four hours.
Location: Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport NC
Project Type: Transportation
Repair Type: Trip Hazard Mitigation
The Challenge
Concrete slabs compromising ADA compliance.
A concrete slab inside a storage bay at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport had settled unevenly, creating a tripping hazard and compromising ADA compliance. The slope also prevented the bay doors from properly sealing, allowing stormwater to enter the bay and pool inside. The uneven surface posed safety issues for personnel and had the potential to damage aircraft tires.

The Solution
Polyurethane injection concrete leveling.
Groundworks was contracted to perform direct polyurethane injections under the slab to re-level the concrete. No deep soil injections were required. After leveling, Groundworks completed full joint sealant and crack repair across the storage bay to help prevent future water infiltration under the slab.
The Impact
Leveled concrete in just four hours.
The entire project was completed in just four hours. The storage bay slab was restored to a safe, even condition, allowing the airport to resume operations without delay. Water intrusion issues were mitigated through proper joint sealing, supporting long-term durability of the slab and adjacent structures.
