Groundworks Partners with Habitat for Humanity in Colorado
The Groundworks teams in Denver and Colorado Springs got their hands dirty for a good cause. As part of the companywide Build Together 2023 initiative, Groundworks employees in Colorado assisted in home builds for their local Habitat for Humanity affiliates.
Groundworks®, the parent company to the local offices, donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. With that donation, the partnership gives 4,500 Groundworks employees the opportunity to volunteer with local Habitat chapters in over 50 communities. This is part of their Goodworks by Groundworks initiative that encourages employees to get involved in their communities and see the impact firsthand.
Colorado Springs
On August 18, the Colorado Springs team participated in a build with Pike’s Peak Habitat for Humanity to construct a home. Specifically, teammates assisted in installing dry wall and helping the future homeowner with her backyard.
The summer rains in Colorado Springs flooded the lot of the home due to a lack of grass and shrubbery. Groundworks employees assisted in installing a drainage system so the water would not build up while construction was underway. They even put in a small pond to add some decoration to the new home!
The team’s efforts were featured on KDRO-TV that evening.
“We at Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity want to thank all the volunteers from the Groundworks team that joined us on the construction site for a sponsored build day!” said Pike’s Peak HFH Volunteer Manager Sarah Buchen. “We appreciate Groundworks’ support of Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity to help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
Denver
Groundworks employees in Denver teamed up with Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity to assist in renovating a home in Williamsport for a local family in need. Employees spent a full day onsite where they put the finishing touches on a new porch and deck for the home.
Employees were thrilled to be making a direct impact on a member of their community. Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity thanks Groundworks for their efforts!
