Groundworks Sponsors Mutt Strut Fundraiser For Dogs In Need
Every good dog deserves a great home full of love, treats, and belly rubs. There are so many homeless and at-risk dogs throughout Philadelphia, and we at Groundworks want to lend a helping hand to the fur babies in need.
We proudly sponsored the 18th annual Mutt Strut festival and fundraiser. Held on Oct. 5, 2024, at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, this year’s event was a huge success. More than $138,000 was raised—the second-highest amount ever raised by Mutt Strut—to help save the city’s homeless animals.
Reaching Out to Paws in Need
The event was hosted by and benefits the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). PAWS is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless and at-risk pets. It is the city’s largest rescue partner and provides affordable, basic veterinary care for pet owners and rescue organizations that cannot otherwise access it.
Each year, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals in need and enables thousands of families to keep their cherished pets. PAWS aims to make Philadelphia a no-kill city where every savable pet is guaranteed a home.
Paws on Parade
Funds raised at the Mutt Strut will support PAWS’ lifesaving programs, including low-cost veterinary care for community pets, and the rescue and adoption of homeless animals. With a high number of stray and surrendered pets entering the city shelter daily, loving adoptive homes provide critical space for animals whose lives depend on it.
This year’s Mutt Strut drew more than 800 dog lovers and their furry friends. Attendees enjoyed a beautiful autumn day, with hundreds of dogs showcasing their Halloween costumes as they walked through the festival grounds. Many vendors—including Groundworks—were on hand, offering a variety of shopping opportunities, in addition to live entertainment, a beer garden, and other dog-friendly games and activities.
