Groundworks Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Throughout Pennsylvania
Event Recap: Building Strong Communities
During the summer, the teams at Groundworks’ Pennsylvania branches, formerly Baker’s Waterproofing, got their hands dirty for a good cause. As part of the companywide Build Together 2023 initiative, 15 Pennsylvania employees assisted in home builds for their local Habitat for Humanity affiliates.
Groundworks donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. With that donation, the partnership allows 4,400 Groundworks employees to volunteer with local Habitat chapters in over 50 communities. This is part of their Goodworks initiative that encourages employees to get involved in their communities and see the impact firsthand.
Pittsburgh
On July 17, the Pittsburgh team participated in a build with the Greater Pittsburgh chapter to construct a home. Specifically, the team built walls at a home in East Liberty for a family in need.
“Habitat Pittsburgh is providing decent, affordable homeownership and home repairs for low-to moderate-income families in the City of Pittsburgh and across Allegheny County,” said a representative for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh. “This vital work is made possible by volunteers and financial support from dedicated organizations.”

Central PA
Employees in Central PA teamed up with Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity to assist in building a brand-new home in Williamsport. Teammates spent a full day on-site, where they helped construct the home’s framing.
Additionally, our team purchased sets of tools that Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity can use for future builds.
Construction Supervisor Andy Hamelly was extremely grateful for the donation, stating, “I wanted to let you know how appreciative I am, as well as our affiliate, for the generous donation [Baker’s] made for us to buy additional tools for our builds! It is partners like [Baker’s] that make our work possible and my day even brighter. We hope to see them again soon.”
