Event Recap: Play for the Day Festival

Groundworks proudly served as the Race Route sponsor for Camp Sweeney’s Play for the Day 5K & Festival on May 26, 2025, at Lake Highlands North Park in Dallas, TX. Now in its 13th year, this community event raises awareness for Type 1 Diabetes, a condition that affects 1 in 400 children and can lead to serious medical complications.

Through education, peer connection, and daily goal-setting, Camp Sweeney and the Southwestern Diabetic Foundation help children build self-confidence and learn effective diabetic control, empowering them to live active lives without feeling defined by their diagnosis.

What We Achieved Together

By sponsoring and participating in this year’s event, Groundworks helped support Camp Sweeney’s mission of providing life-changing opportunities for children living with Type 1 Diabetes. Proceeds from the festival help fund camp scholarships for families in need; nearly half of Camp Sweeney’s attendees rely on this financial assistance. 

Our support helps ensure that every child has a chance to gain confidence, build lasting friendships, and receive the care they need in a supportive environment.
