We are experts at what we do, and you deserve the best customer service and repair solutions installed the right way. That’s why we go the extra mile.

With its picturesque parks and charming historical sites and structures, many people are proud to call Beatrice, NE, home. Situated west of the Missouri River in southeast Nebraska, Beatrice is bisected by the Big Blue River and surrounded by agricultural country.

While the silty clay loam soil in Beatrice and throughout Gage County is good for farming, it can cause significant problems for homes and their basements or crawl spaces, foundations, and concrete structures.

The area’s wet springtime months; humid and rainy summers; cold, snowy, windy winters; 32 inches of rain and 19 inches of snow on average each year don’t help, either. With overly saturated soil, foundation walls can bow, basements can leak and flood, crawl space floor joists can rot and sag, and concrete can crack and sink.

Many Beatrice homeowners have had to contend with these issues, but they also have trusted their repairs to the experienced professionals at Groundworks. Our award-winning, permanent solutions and unmatched customer service have helped make us local industry leaders. If you home is experiencing foundation, basement, crawl space, or concrete problems, we can help you restore it and protect it for years to come.

I purchased a home in need of repairs. I looked around at different options to have a basement wall secured. I decided to go with Groundworks because the pricing was fair compared to other companies. Three men arrived, they worked very hard in the blistering cold to make sure the job was done correctly and professionally. Adriel explained in detail about the work being performed. They were on time when they said they would arrive, took great care of the house and did a fantastic job. After my experience with Adriel, I will recommend this company to friends and family. Thank you!!

Nick Waldron and Mike Wrenn both helped to plan and install an expansion joint in my driveway. Service was exceptional. Nick was very detailed in his explanation and helped me understand the value of the expansion joint installation. Mike arrived on time and got straight to work. He was very professional and efficient. I was very happy with the whole process. Very professional and will recommend.

We highly recommend Groundworks. Paul Winder was so professional and knowledgeable about what we needed to do to fix the foundation of our home. There were no pushy sales pitches and Paul was very honest and straight forward about what we needed and didn’t need. With the financing they have to offer it’s very affordable and we now have a peace of mind that our home will be solid for many years to come. Thank you Groundworks and Paul Winder.

I had such a great experience with CLS. Dave, the owner personally came out to the house to give me a quote. I really like that the owner prefers to meet each client to fully understand the situation. The crew came out and was respectful and clean. They did a great job and the price was better than the other quotes I received. I highly recommend CLS.

Beatrice Basement Waterproofing

While Beatrice receives slightly less precipitation than the U.S. average, it still sees plenty of water in the form of 32 inches of rain and 19 inches of snow. All this water saturates the ground and can flood the nearby Big Blue River. If the river floods or there is too much water in the soil underneath and around your home, it can lead to significant damage.

Your foundation walls could succumb to hydrostatic pressure exerted on them by the heavily saturated silty clay loam soil. Walls can crack and bow inward, as well as allow moisture and water inside. This negatively impacts your home’s structural integrity, safety, and health. Mold also can easily form and threaten those with underlying or no health conditions.

The best way to combat these issues is to have reliable basement waterproofing solutions protecting your home. Groundworks prides itself on its tested and warrantied products including interior drainage, sump pumps, vapor barriers, and dehumidifiers.

An interior drainage system catches any leaking water and drains it into a sump pump. From there, it is pumped out of the basement and away from the home. A vapor barrier on the walls can help lock out moisture and gases, and a dehumidifier reduces humidity and the potential for mold growth. Additionally, an anti-freeze discharge line attachment will help keep discharge lines functioning even during cold winters and downspout extensions help direct water far away from the foundation.

Our outstanding line-up of sump pumps offers the ultimate peace of mind. In an area like Beatrice, where the weather and soil works against you, having a reliable sump pump you can count on is necessary. Our sump pump system provides homeowners with alerts if a problem arises so you are always aware of what’s going on with your system.

Foundation Repair Throughout Beatrice

Wall cracks, whether they are found in foundation walls or drywall on upper floors, are all too commonly seen in homes throughout Beatrice. But just because they’re common doesn’t mean they need to be part of typical homeownership. Cracking is normal during the first few years a home is built and settles, but further foundation settlement and growing cracks is dangerous.

The area’s variety of silt loam, silty clay loam, clay loam and fine sandy loam with its range of drainage properties only makes matters worse. If the soil under and around your home is not stable enough to properly support the weight of your house, it’s going to sink and settle. You’ll notice this through stair-step wall cracks, drywall nail pops, uneven floors and sticking windows and doors.

We can help permanently reinforce your settling foundation and potentially lift the problematic areas. Our range of foundation piers – push piers, helical piers, and slab piers – can be installed depending on your home’s foundation type and the extent of damage.

The area’s saturated soil can lead to excessive hydrostatic pressure on foundation walls, resulting in cracking and inward bowing. For walls bowing less than two inches, carbon fiber supports can be used to reinforce the walls, hold them in their current positions, and prevent further cracking or movement. Walls that have more damage or more than two inches of movement can be stabilized and restored over time with wall anchors or the SettleStop IntelliBrace™ wall repair system.

Beatrice Concrete Lifting

Concrete around your home – your sidewalk, driveway, patio, pool deck, and slab floor – can crack, settle, and sustain other damage for the same reason as your foundation. The soil underneath these concrete structures may not have been properly prepared or they could naturally be problematic.

Any cracking, sinking, and uneven concrete around your property is a safety hazard for anyone walking over it. Those with mobility issues in particular – such as the elderly or very young children – can easily trip and fall in these unsafe areas. Not only are these conditions dangerous, but they also make your property look unkempt and can lower its value if you are looking to sell.

There are a number of options available to repair sunken concrete. Repouring the slabs doesn’t get to the root of the problem, and the issues will still continue. Mudjacking is invasive, time-consuming, and expensive, and it also does not address the source.

Concrete lifting with polyurethane injections, however, stands above the rest and is proven to last for years to come. Groundworks uses the SettleStop PolyRenewal™ system to lift and stabilize cracking, sinking slabs. This polyurethane foam mixture is injected underneath the concrete slabs through small, penny-sized holes that are drilled into the slabs. This lightweight but durable material expands to fill the void between the soil and the slabs to effectively lift the slabs to the proper height. The holes are sealed and smoothed, and the system’s quick cure time of 15 minutes means you can use your concrete the same day as the installation!

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Beatrice

Some Beatrice homes have been built on top of a crawl space instead of a basement. This is typically cheaper and allows essentials like wiring, plumbing, and ductwork to be installed underneath the home and out of the way. Typical building practice, however, has been to leave these dirt crawl spaces vented and not properly sealed. This does more harm than good to a home.

Beatrice has mostly silty clay loam soil, but other soil types that can erode, frequently flood or rarely flood also are present. If the soil is not well-drained, this can lead to groundwater and flooding in the crawl space. Any cracks and open vents will allow air and moisture into the crawl space, creating a recipe for disaster. Mold growth, wood rot, and even invading pests can affect the crawl space and your home.

Almost half of the air in your house comes from the crawl space, so you could be breathing in mold spores, pest droppings, and unhealthy air. We can help you waterproof and seal up this space in order to create a safer and healthier living environment.

Our specially designed interior drainage system addresses leaks and groundwater, and our crawl space sump pump rids the area of this water. Waterproof and termiticide-integrated insulation is added to the walls, and a thick and durable vapor barrier covers the walls and floor to fully encapsulate the crawl space and isolate it from the earth. Vent covers are used to further lock out air and moisture, and an energy-efficient dehumidifier helps improve air quality while regulating moisture and humidity.
