LJ, Anthony, Kevin and Mike were amazing,! We didn't realize how poorly the basement had been left behind the plywood walls until this crew came to get it sorted. I had John with Groundworks come look at house after learning my floor was out of level. He drove over and hour each way two times and spent hours in my house measuring, and hours more on the phone with me and discovered a wall that was out of plumb due to rotted supports on an overhang, causing the overhang to pull on the wall. He gave me a $13,000 beam and interior support pole proposal that he said they could do in addition to the overhang supports needing to be replaced by a different contractor, but told me point blank that what he had proposed would likely be for peace of mind only and likely a “net zero” benefit after the supports were replaced by a different contractor, so there was really no need to go through with the work from Groundworks. He could have easily told me their proposal was necessary and I’d have paid it in a heartbeat. Hours upon hours he spent working hard on my issue, identified the issue, told me how to solve it, and Groundworks never charged me a dime, even though I’d have bit hook line and sinker if he told me the proposal was necessary. Really unbelievable level of effort and integrity, I was amazed at how passionately he cared about solving my issue in the best way for me. Once in a lifetime experience.

We called Innovative Basement Authority to come and give us a quote for repairing some concerns we were having with our foundation. Jan Kottke came to our home and conducted a very thorough inspection of our foundation. He explained to us that the areas that we had concerns over were not a significant threat to the integrity of our home and that we did not need any repairs at this time. Jan then took the time to educate me as to what I should watch for to maintain our foundation and know when to call them back should the need arise. I highly recommend this company to anyone who has issues with their home or even concerned about possible issues they may have. They will address your issues and give you honest answers.

After I consulted with another popular foundation repair company in town, I wanted to get another opinion. I then had Jan from Innovative Basement Authority came over. He looked around the house outside and inside for issues. He used a laser to measure my house for sedimentation. He observed to cracks and listened to my concerns. He took his time and spent an hour checking. When he was finished he gave me the best news! He cannot offer me a solution since he doesn't think my problem is the settling. He said just basically to fix the minor cosmetic issues that comes with the age of the house and observe. Thank you for your honesty and expertise. The world needs more people like you! I am so glad I don't need to tear up my house unnecessary!

The crew that came to remove and replace the existing drain tile (Gahven, Maverick, Carl, Steve, and Parker) and install new tile and a sump in our laundry room did an outstanding job. Gahven guided me through the demo process, responding to texts even after dinner time. He was incredibly helpful, confirming that I had completed everything correctly through a text and picture conversation at 10 p.m. the night before they arrived. Thanks to everyone at Innovative Basement who worked on waterproofing our basement!

The people with Innovative Basement Authority have been a pleasure to deal with, starting with Jan and his assessment and thorough explanation of our options. Then came Brandon and his crew of James and Joel. They worked diligently and completed the stabilization of our basement in a timely manner and did a thorough job cleaning up. My only issue is that they forgot to plug my freezers back in after they got what they needed to in place. Thankfully, that was one of the last areas they did, so nothing was lost as I caught it right away.

I’m very pleased with Innovative Basement Authority and the employees. Our house is well over 100 years old and has needed the foundation stabilized. It was time for the yearly inspection and Jake Kinsella called to schedule. He also let me know on the day that they were coming. Jake Kinsella and Joe Carpenter thoroughly checked the placement of all supports and to see if there were more issues needing attention. They noticed the sump pump was due for replacement and recommended an upgrade to one with battery backup. That day, the sump pump system installation was scheduled. Brandon, Anthony, and Shane came to install the sump pump. They had contacted earlier to let me know when they would be here, so which I really appreciated. The old pump was removed and the new, state of the art sump pump system was installed in the larger hole that was made and it was cemented in. They had prepped the area to avoid an unnecessary mess and cleaned the area afterward. I appreciate how well IBA and employees communicate timely and appropriately. They explain in detail what they do and answer all questions. I have a great sense of peace of the mind knowing the basement is stable, safe, and will be protected from flooding

Just had our yearly inspection of the work that was done several years back. Everything checked out great. We used to have water in the basement many times every year, but it has been completely dry since they installed the system. Dave Anderson checked it all out and seemed very knowledgeable about the issues that older homes like ours often have.

Structural Repair Expertise in Grand Forks
Situated on the northwest border of North Dakota and Minnesota, cities like Grand Forks, Thief River Falls, Devils Lake, and Pembina where snowy and bitter cold winters are common can lead to spring flooding from snowmelt.
Flooded basements and bowing foundation walls are common throughout the Red River Valley. Because of the harsh outdoor elements, Grand Forks homeowners are no stranger to leaking basement walls, foundation settlement, and nasty crawl spaces.
Because of the generous amounts of snow Grand Forks can get during the winter months, flooding is always likely during spring. But the soil around your home can be working against you too. Homeowners in this area are generally dealing with Bearden silty clay loam, which has poor drainage properties. Add melting snow to the mix, and you’re in for excess and pooling water around your home.
Have you noticed high basement humidity, musty odors, leaking walls, or bowing walls? Many homeowners just like you have experienced those signs of water intrusion and foundation damage, and we at Innovative Basement Authority are here to help restore your home and bring back your peace of mind.
