We had some work done recently on our driveway and it was not a great experience, so I wasn't exactly excited to do this again for our patio. I wanted to work with someone not involved in the driveway work so I called Groundworks. Sheldon came to give me an estimate on my back patio and in the course of our conversation we told him about work done (and not well done) by other companies and he graciously took a look at the driveway. Because of my prior experience, I honestly just wanted to get a quote for the patio and have this salesman go away. But Sheldon was so patient, funny and informative in explaining what Groundworks could do, and could not do, to address all our cement and levelling issues that he started to "win me over". In the end, we signed a contract with Groundworks based on Sheldon's extreme confidence not only in himself, but the quality of his company and the work they do. Work has been scheduled but not completed, but I am confident Goundworks will do a good job and I will be back to write a review on the finished work.

We are long term clients of JES – Ashland. Recently, we met Zach during our annual check up. He was refreshingly comprehensive in his explanation on the condition of our crawl space. In a 90 year old home, things do continue to change and he recommended we adjust the current jack system to stabilize it with some alterations which would adjust and reinforce the aged construction. Additionally we upgraded the dehumidification system. Zach was knowledgeable and efficient. We also would like to commend his supervisor, “J.B.” , who helped coordinate the job and the installation crew. The workers were polite and efficient. We are very pleased with the results. I still don’t know how they could negotiate working in a VERY low crawl space! Thanks expediting the installation by moving the date for us when the permit arrived earlier than expected. Everyone we interacted with made us glad we stayed with JES. You make us feel like “family”.

JES came in to waterproof my basement, which is a huge job, as they had to put a drain around the full perimeter of my basement and install a vapor barrier in a fully finished basement. This was after I had visible mold. The person who came in for the quote, Brendan, didn't try to sell me a whole bunch of extra stuff, told me straight up how it works, what they were going to do, and did so in a timely manner. He was very helpful with all my questions and woes. The crew that came out, the foreman Abdul, co-foreman Joseph, and installer Nilton were all professional and completed the job quickly and efficiently. I knew there was mold still in the wall, so they took the whole wall down; most companies would not do that, nor would they put the steps back, which they did the best they could, which I was very happy about, because there was mold hiding all the way up the wall behind some of the studs. They worked with all my needs, scheduled the job, and completed the job to my satisfaction over about a two-week period. Most other companies were 6 weeks out to schedule a job. They did all of this, pulled permits, and had it inspected for a better or same price than two other direct competitors.

Our foundation repairs were done awhile ago and I have had very few issues and overall feel it worked out great. Amazingly they didn't crack a single tile in the house despite quite a lift of the house.

After all the work was complete James again did a walk through with me and pointed out what was done and cautioned me about not putting nails/screws through the vapor barrier. He also explained the warranty on the pump and to call if anything went wrong with the pump. The crew was very polite and business like the whole time. I recently had a basement waterproofing job done by Jeffery, Marcus, Nate, and Dijohn, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Jeffery, the project lead, walked me through the entire process, explaining the work involved and answering all of my questions. He made sure I understood what needed to be done and why it was necessary. The team worked seamlessly together, and the whole process went smoothly and on schedule. The basement is now completely dry, and I no longer have to worry about water damage or mold growth. I was especially impressed by the attention to detail and the care they took in making sure everything was properly done. I highly recommend this crew for any waterproofing needs. I have been a customer with JES for about a year now. We purchased our home and quickly realized within the first few months there were some problems missed in inspection. JES came out promptly, gave us understandable answers. At the one year mark of service, we had Gage come out to check out how everything was looking under the house. He was communicative, on time, and very professional while also being friendly and explaining everything. Unfortunately some new issues have arisen but he made the "bad news" feel less upsetting and was more than willing to work around what we could try to accomplish budget wise. Gage followed up fast too in scheduling the dates for service. I truthfully cannot imagine the level of professionalism and speed from any other service than what JES provides.

From start to finish Groundworks was very professional and exceeded our expectations. Our estimator, Jerry, arrived on time and explained the process in detail even providing a short video demonstrating how the crack in our entry would be repaired. He set our expectations by clearly laying out the next steps. Lily followed up to schedule our repair stating Samuel and Kelvin would be out to handle the repair and to make sure we were prepared in advance. Samuel and Kelvin arrived on time and at the end of the job answered all of questions assuring us the repair was guaranteed and would blend in with time. He went through the checklist and even humored me by posing for a picture! His manager Daniel followed up a few days later to make sure all went well and to see if we had any questions or concerns. At this time we have none and feel this was the correct way to make the repair since Samuel had informed us there were many voids under the slab. I feel that the other options we had considered would not have addressed these issues. Daniel informed us if any concerns do come up to reach out as they would be happy to resolve these. We highly recommend Groundworks. They’re awesome!

This interaction started with a negative, but was resolved so well that anything less than a 5 star review would be a lie. I was supposed to have someone come by and inspect my foundation on 02/07/26, but no one arrived. I informed the company of this on Sunday and received a follow up email from their customer service department almost immediately asking for more details. They took full ownership of the error (even though it was a simple matter of a calendar not updating), and I received a phone call from Dakota Roden first thing Monday, who apologized for the error and rescheduled the inspection. He called roughly 40 minutes prior to the appointment and assured me that he would be there as planned. He was professional, courteous, and explained the work that needed to be done and the options to do it incredibly well, and more than made up for what ended up being a completely understandable accident. They provided a discount that they didn’t have to give, but one for which I am incredibly grateful. I believe that how a company resolves issues is a much better gauge of their integrity and professionalism than doing so when everything is going well. I cannot recommend AFS of Knoxville, and specifically Dakota, more highly.
