It was a pleasure working with Ernest Vigil. He came to my house and did a thorough measurement of my crawlspace for the estimate. He was responsive throughout the installation process. On the second day of the job, Ernest called me and informed me that the crew told him his map for the job was inaccurate and they had to dig a lot more which resulted in an additional ~$3,500 cost. Initially he was just going to accept what the crew told him. I told him their explanation didn't make sense, and insisted that he should come over to verify. He came after the crew quit working early on that day, went down to the crawlspace and discovered the crew was digging where they are not supposed to. Then on the fourth day, when I returned from work in the afternoon, the crew was about to leave and told me they had finished everything. I didn't see the new drainage system that was included in the quote so I asked them about this. They said they connected the new sump pump to the old drainage. I remember Ernest told me their company wouldn't use previous systems because you don't know if they still work. So I called Ernest about this. The crew also didn't replace the door which was also included in the quote. I told them about this, they quickly put together a door then left. Fortunately I thought about checking it and discovered all screws were sticking out from the other side of the door with sharp tips (I almost got poked, which was why I noticed it). I told Ernest about this too. He took care of both issues and had the crew come back the next day to fix them. He then came over to inspect the work and took pictures/videos. So now the system seems to be working fine. Attached is the picture Ernest liked the most.

We contacted JES to come out to give us an estimate for spray insulation in the crawl space to help with the cold floors in our home. Blake Snidow came out to meet with us. He went in the crawl space and did an inspection. He found we had several issues under there that he suggested we take care of first. Blake came back after reviewing and gave us several options to correct our issues. He did a great job explaining everything. Unfortunately at this time being on a fixed income we are not going to fix the issues. When we can do it we will definitely call JES.

I was dealing with some noticeably bouncy floors around my home, so I reached out to Groundworks. They sent out Dalten, who was incredibly knowledgeable. He inspected the entirety of my crawlspace and took detailed elevations, which revealed significant sagging. He also pointed out that several wood posts were actually buried in the dirt and starting to rot. To fix the issue, he recommended installing IntelliJacks to replace the failing posts and adding a new beam supported by two additional IntelliJacks to stabilize my hallway. I can’t say enough good things about Foreman Roger and his crew, Santos and Juan. They showed up ready to work and efficiently installed everything exactly as outlined in the contract. It’s clear these guys take pride in what they do. I highly recommend Groundworks if you want a team that sticks to their word and refuses to cut corners. My floors feel solid again!

I called IFS on March 23,2026 to advise a less than year old back up battery and pump was not working and making a loud clicking and buzzing noise. Pump/pit located directly under my headboard in master bedroom. I need someone out asap due to 3” of rain possible over next 5 days. Switch board said first available was APRIL 23,2026. Yes 1 month out. I called the next 2 days explaining this is not acceptable my crawl could be flooded and the pumps in the 2nd pit in my crawl is doing double the work and shortening the life span. Still nothing but excuses and just busy. I’m thinking 30days out for an emergency and due to IFS failed equipment. This is your customer service policy I felt like we got your big $$$ for the encapsulation and battery back ups we will get to you whenever. There is no way to talk to a service technician who could understand the severity and possible total flooding. I had to get my son in law to go into the crawl space unplug the battery monitor to stop the buzzing on a 10mo old system. Put a 15 yr old pump from Lowe’s into pit to pump out the water that was 3” from overflowing. With expected rain it would have flooded crawl. Obviously I was very upset and had no way of actually talking to anyone at IFS who would understand the situation. Son in law and neighbors went under my house to pump water out of pit to keep from flooding. When April 23, 2026 finally got here it was certified field inspector Timothy VanMeter who listened, understood and apologized for how my call was mishandled and it was prioritized like a yearly inspection and not a repair/prioritized work order. Tim’s patience in listening to me and hearing me a difference was appreciated. He also checked things under the house that I’m not sure ever was in my yearly checks. IFS needs more employees like Tim. If I need repairs ever again you can bet I will be asking Tim VanMeter to be the technician

His assessment was thorough and detailed and noted several concerns that I had not previously been aware of. He was very helpful in advising me as how to best proceed and what to ask and look for when the company that did the original warrantied work returns to readdress the problems. If the original company fails to adequately address the concerns or if new problems arise in the future, I will most certainly be back in touch with the Ohio Basement Authority.

I just want to give a shout out to Micah from Groundworks! He came to our house today to do the semi annual inspection and was so courteous and professional that it really made me feel totally comfortable having him in my house. So many people complain about workmen and contractors that I really wanted to say this is a company that prides itself on having knowledgeable technicians and their professionalism He also suggested something amazing to me. He suggested that we get a device that measures the progress of foundation cracks. We have a few foundation cracks due to years of Water in the basement. He was not trying to upsell anything as these devices are very reasonably priced and able to be purchased through Amazon. We have not had any issues with water in our basement since having our system installed in the basement. We can now actually use the basement because it is not damp or smelly. This is the first time in years we can have clothes hanging up and not worry that there is going to be a moldy odor about them. I highly recommend this company for peace of mind with any water issues you may have in your house. And thank you again, Micah!

Foundation Repair – REVIEW To: Groundworks Foundation Company I just wanted to take a moment and express my appreciation to the two crews your company sent to my house this week, to do some major foundation repair work. The first crew consisted of Foreman Brenden, along with his crew of Steven, Justin, and Angel. They were joined by a second crew that consisted of Adam, Josh, and Wes. Both crews worked together on the first day to get a total of 19 holes started around our house, which would allow Brendon to use the hydraulic press that would push the steel poles into the ground that would eventually support the flange immediately under the edge of the foundation. The soil our house is built on is called blackland and is very thick and heavy when wet, as was the case this week when the work was started. This type of soil is very difficult to work with when wet, as opposed to when it is dry, but both crews went to work immediately to get the pilot holes dug around the house. I was impressed with their ability to dig those holes with the soil being in the worst possible condition at this time, to do so. After both crews completed many of the holes for the steel pipes to go into, the second crew was able to leave to go to another work location, and that left the first crew to begin the installation of the steel pipes that would eventually support the foundation, and also complete a few remaining holes that had not been dug at that time. All of the work was well organized and everyone had a job to do. I never saw anyone taking a break, and at the end of the first day, I would say half of the pipe supports had been installed. I was informed they would be back early on the second day to complete the work. They showed up right around 8am and immediately picked up where they left off the night before. By mid-afternoon, everything was in place and Brenden began taking readings in various rooms of our home to see how much the foundation had raised. Most readings ranged from about a half inch to as much as 1.5 inches, which was a great improvement overall. But the most secure feeling about the work is that our foundation is stabilized and will not continue to cause the cracks in the sheetrock of several rooms, that we have experienced over the past couple of years. We will now be able to make repairs and paint, where necessary, and know that any repair work will remain permanent. Before the crew was going to leave, we were asked if we were pleased with the work and how it was done. I told Brenden that we could not have been happier with the results, and were very impressed with the technology that Groundworks used to secure and stabilize our foundation, so that we should not have any further issues in the future. He arrived on time, completed the work efficiently, and provided a clear, thorough overview of the equipment’s condition. He even took the extra step of organizing the power cables, which had been a mess. Robbie was very knowledgeable and walked me through options for battery backup systems and foundation waterproofing. I was extremely happy with the work. My garage slab had cracked and dropped over an inch at one end leaving a big gap under the garage door. When they came to survey, they caught 2 other voids under the whole front edge and at tge other corner. This was during the winter. Once the ground warmed up, they arrived on the scheduled day, about an hour early! The whole job only took about 45 min. Brandon and Marc were friendly and professional and piped in exactly enough foam to raise the slab level. I was impressed with their finesse. Nothing wasted, they left my garage clean and looking great.
