Why your neighbors trust Groundworks

We've earned 545 five star reviews.

"I wanted to write a review because I’ve had multiple companies come out and do similar work, and Groundworks has by far done the best job. There were two guys in particular Ethan and Seth who did an amazing job. It seemed like Seth was training Ethan, and everything went smoothly; the finished work looks beyond perfect. Seth was very knowledgeable and clearly knew what he was doing, and Ethan was friendly and seemed to be learning quickly and retaining a lot of information. I did ask who the main crew lead was, and he wasn’t on-site most of the time. When he was there briefly, my wife mentioned he was often on his phone, so I’m not entirely sure of his involvement. From what we saw, Seth appeared to be the one really running the job. My wife even mentioned wanting Seth & Ethan back for future work, but I’d be hesitant to have the same crew again if the main lead continues to be absent most of the time and making outside life on his phone more important than work itself. That said, Seth and Ethan were outstanding, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to have work done. I’ve already referred a few friends to ask for them specifically at Groundworks in SeaTac. Thank you, Seth and Ethan, for your hard work and professionalism we truly appreciate it!"

Common Causes of your Crawl Space Problems in Port Angeles

Have you ever wondered why homes in this area sometimes face issues with their crawl spaces, basements, or foundations? In many parts of Port Angeles, the soil and moisture patterns play a significant role. The region experiences a high amount of rainfall combined with coastal winds, which can lead to excess moisture around and under homes. These conditions often cause the local soils to expand and contract, especially in areas where draining is poor or seasonal swelling occurs. This can disturb the structural integrity of crawl spaces, leading to a range of problems including moisture buildup and pest intrusion.

As these environmental factors exert pressure on your home's foundation or under-structure, various telltale signs may begin to emerge. Cracks in walls or floors, a musty smell, or doors that stick can all be early indicators of stress within crawl spaces. It's crucial to monitor these signs closely, as they can lead to more significant issues if left unchecked, such as rotting support beams or increased energy costs from poor insulation. By understanding how Port Angeles's unique conditions affect your home, you can better prevent and manage potential crawl space problems, safeguarding your property's longevity and value.

It's best to get a few quotes from local contractors to understand the specific costs involved in your situation.

A vapor barrier can significantly reduce moisture problems under your home by blocking ground moisture from entering the crawl space. However, it's often used in conjunction with other solutions such as proper ventilation, grading around the house, and dehumidifiers to ensure comprehensive moisture control.

Pests or rodents in the crawl space can sometimes indicate structural issues, as these areas can provide entry points or conducive conditions for infestations. However, their presence doesn't always mean structural damage. It's important to conduct a thorough inspection to determine if there are underlying structural concerns.

In Port Angeles, the damp and rainy climate, as well as soil conditions, can lead to moisture problems in crawl spaces. The heavy rainfall can cause water to collect around the foundation, increasing the risk of water infiltration and subsequent structural issues if not properly managed.

Yes, structural issues in the crawl space can affect doors, windows, or floors upstairs. Problems such as sagging or failing support beams can lead to uneven or sloping floors, misaligned doors, or windows that stick or won't close properly. These signs often indicate that there may be support or foundation issues that need to be addressed.
