The Challenge

Voids beneath 450-linear-foot drainage channel.

A 450-linear-foot drainage channel had developed significant voids beneath its concrete panels, compromising its functionality. The Solution

Injections strategically placed on a 4-foot grid.

Injections were strategically placed on a 4-foot grid along the bottom of the drainage structure and halfway up the side walls to address the voids. Groundworks served as a subcontractor under Three Peaks Construction, who was contracted to install an epoxy overlay over select areas of the channel after the voids had been filled. To ensure the work did not disrupt the ongoing school operations, a pre-construction meeting was held with the college maintenance staff and contractors, coordinating efforts to minimize any interference with the daily activities at the college.

The Impact

25% savings enabled additional repair projects for RCC.

Voids beneath the area of concern were effectively filled, with material usage coming in at 25% under budget. This cost savings allowed RCC to allocate additional funds toward completing other repair projects that were previously deemed unaffordable, ensuring further improvements to the infrastructure that had not been anticipated in the original budget plan.
