"In early 2025, I watched the series of videos put out by Mike Rowe on his Youtube channel where he accompanied a Groundworks team on a jobsite and then interviewed Matt Malone, Groundworks' founder. Those videos encouraged me to put Groundworks on my contact list because I knew we would eventually contract them to help us with water and foundation issues for our raised foundation home in southern California. I first met with DALTEN in December 2025 to discuss our areas of concern and receive his inspection. He spent literally hours thoroughly measuring and documenting our home's underbelly before coming to the table to meet with me over his tablet device on which he recorded all the information we needed to make an informed decision in the approach to repairs. Their balanced use of technology and face-to-face discussion was exactly what was needed to effectively communicate with us about the whole process. We signed on that evening to schedule the work. I scheduled with them to start in January 2026. The Groundworks system emailed and texted with me to keep me updated on time of arrival and what to expect throughout the project. On the first day, ROGER, JUAN, and JORGE came to our property right on time and were ready to go within minutes, fully suited up for their mission under our house. Roger projected 4 or 4.5 days for the job completion and he stuck to that; they began Monday and ended Thursday. Dalten and Roger worked to ensure our plan was both achievable and met the engineer's specifications with respect to the leveling beam installation. A modification was made on the fly to rework some of our trenching and the change was easily conducted electronically between the team and me. Roger discussed everything at the end with me over the phone since I was away. He also sent me photos of the finished product. After talking to Jorge, I decided to go under the house with him and Juan for a brief period so he could show me where future electrical would be needed to properly connect the pumps they installed. They were courteous to show me how to safely get into the crawl space and then how to exit. Finally, the guys went above and beyond by informing me about a leak point coming from one of our bathrooms and made recommendations for services outside the scope of their work based on what would be best for us. I cannot praise the Groundworks team enough, a really solid bunch of people who are doing home repair the right way. Thank you guys!"

Common Causes of your Concrete Problems in Calexico

Spotting sagging concrete slabs around your home, like those in driveways or patios, is quite common in Calexico. The reason behind these issues often ties back to how the local environment interacts with the soil beneath your concrete. In Calexico, the natural soil composition and consistent exposure to arid conditions can lead to voids forming under concrete surfaces. Over time, as soil compacts or erodes due to changes in moisture levels, the support beneath your concrete slabs weakens. This causes the slabs to settle unevenly and can even crack. When heavy rains come, water seeping into these voids exacerbates the problem, often leading to more pronounced settling and slab instability.

These environmental factors place significant stress on the structures resting on your soil, leading to problems that might seem daunting at first. Indicators such as uneven surfaces, cracks, or sections of concrete that appear sunken can signal foundational concerns that, if left untreated, may worsen. Early identification and intervention are crucial in preserving not only the aesthetics but also the safety of your property. By addressing these issues promptly, you help prevent more extensive damage and avoid costly repairs down the line. So keep an eye out for these signs around your home to ensure a solid and secure foundation.

FAQs

The cost of concrete lifting in Calexico can vary depending on the size and scope of the project, but generally, prices range from $2 to $5 per square foot. It's best to get a personalized quote from a local professional for an accurate estimate.

Foam lifting is appropriate for many sunken concrete issues, especially if there's minimal cracking and the ground underneath is stable. A professional assessment can determine its suitability by evaluating the extent of sinking, soil conditions, and the specific area affected.

Cracked concrete can often be lifted if the cracks are minor and the underlying base is stable. If the cracks are extensive or the base is compromised, replacement might be recommended. It's essential to have a professional evaluate the condition to choose the best solution.

Warranties for foam lifting services typically vary by provider, but many offer guarantees ranging from 1 to 5 years. Warranties usually cover the re-occurrence of sinking within the warranty period. It's important to review the terms with your contractor.

Not necessarily. Sinking concrete doesn't automatically mean a new foundation is required. Often, concrete lifting can resolve the issue. However, if there are signs of structural damage or the house foundation is affected, further analysis by a structural engineer may be necessary.
