Why your neighbors trust Groundworks

We've earned 459 five star reviews.

"We had our crawlspace encapsulated by Groundworks which included 2 pumps, a fan and a ton of insulating materials. The "crawlspace" has a 5-foot ceiling. The crew of foreman: Jacob N., and Richard S., Tim C. and Markee G. were polite, professional, and very hard working. They finished at least two days ahead of the original schedule (probably due to the high ceiling) and cleaned up well after themselves. Jacob answered my many questions and phone calls and went out of his way to leave everything the way he found it. He even returned several days later to replace some pavers he had to remove in order to run a drainpipe under the walkway. When he did that, he also reset some pavers I had not done such a hot job on replacing after I dug a root from underneath them a year or so earlier. We plan on using them when we can afford to run another beam under the house to stiffen up the floor. We are very satisfied and would recommend them to anyone needing their services."

Common Causes of your Concrete Problems in Redmond

Are you noticing sunken or uneven concrete around your property? Environmental factors in Redmond can often be the culprit. The naturally moist, clay-rich soils in the area are prone to shrinkage and settlement when they lose moisture during dry spells. Conversely, when these soils absorb excess water during rainy periods, they can swell and heave. This cycle of expansion and contraction disrupts the stability of the concrete surfaces on your property. Additionally, areas with poor drainage can lead to water pooling underneath concrete slabs, further accelerating the process of sinking or uneven settling.

Concrete lifting becomes necessary when these environmental stresses cause noticeable issues around your home, like uneven patios or walkway tripping hazards. Detecting these problems early can prevent further damage to your property. When your concrete slabs shift and settle unevenly, it not only poses safety risks but can also lead to water drainage issues, affecting the structural integrity of your foundation or basement. Addressing these issues promptly with concrete lifting will help maintain both the functionality and appearance of your home's exterior surfaces.

FAQs

The cost of concrete lifting in Redmond can vary depending on factors such as the size and extent of the sunken area, the method used, and local labor rates. On average, prices can range from $500 to $2,000. It's advisable to get a quote from a local service provider for a more accurate estimate.

Adding more concrete on top of sunken areas is not a recommended solution because it does not address the underlying issue causing the sinking. It could lead to additional weight and further sinking over time. Concrete lifting is a more effective method because it stabilizes the foundation.

Water pooling near your patio or garage slab is often caused by inadequate drainage or soil settlement beneath the concrete. It can lead to soil erosion, contributing to the sinking of the slab. Proper grading or installing drainage solutions can help alleviate this issue.

A typical concrete lifting project usually takes between 1 to 3 hours, depending on the size and condition of the area being lifted. Most projects can be completed in a single visit, making it a convenient solution for homeowners.

Concrete lifting can help stabilize the existing slabs and reduce the risk of future sinking or cracking. However, it's important to address any underlying issues, such as drainage problems or loose soil, to ensure long-term stability. Regular maintenance and monitoring are also recommended.
