Why your neighbors trust Groundworks

We've earned 33 five star reviews.

"We just experienced the absolute best dealing with Groundworks. From the initial inspection and estimate (Alan), to the prompt scheduling and confirmation of appointment the day before to the acknowledgement of ETA the morning of - every facet was top tier professional. Toy and Joey arrived on the job at the appointed time and immediately assesed the situation with our sunken 8' x 10' driveway pad section. I had diligently researched mud jacking, demo and reconcrete/finishing and polyurethane foam pad lifting. Wishing to keep the same color and finish after any repair, pad lifting seemed to be the best option. I have learned that pad lifting is an inexact science and succes or failure results in the ability of the technicians to "read" the concrete since composition of materials as well as the quality of the original pour must be factored in to know how much material (foam) should be applied and where to inject it so that cracking or over lifting can be avoided. Not only was the job done to my satisfaction but it was done with no cracking of the surface and leveled to match the other pads. It was only after the job was completed that Toy and Joey casually mentioned that they finished a job last night after dark and over 75 miles from my location. Both gentleman were curteous, respectful of me and my property and were a joy to work with. If you are old enough to remember high quality customer service provided in "the old days" or have only heard about it, you will be highly pleased with Groundworks and their highly skilled technicians. And, as an aside, Groundworks estimate beat all the other forms of repair. We highly recommend this crew and this company!"

Common Causes of your Crawl Space Problems in Norwalk

Moisture and Humidity

Excess moisture in your crawl space can lead to mold growth, wood rot, and structural damage over time.

Groundwater Seepage

Poor drainage or leaking pipes can lead to standing water in your crawl space, potentially causing mold growth and compromising structural integrity.

Poor Ventilation

Open vents in your crawl space allow humid air to enter, leading to condensation, mold, and long-term moisture damage.

Pest Infestations

Damp or unsealed crawl spaces create an inviting environment for rodents, termites, and other pests, leading to structural damage and contamination.

Soil Settlement

Shifting soil beneath your home can lead to foundation settlement, causing sagging floors and damage to crawl space supports.

Foundation Cracks

Cracks in crawl space foundation walls allow water, pests, and unconditioned air to enter, causing moisture and structural issues.

High Energy Bills

Poorly sealed or damaged crawl spaces can increase heating and cooling costs due to energy loss.

Stack Effect

Damage in your crawl space allows mold and odors to spread into your home. Repairing the crawl space prevents this, improving your air quality and living environment.

Climate Conditions

Heavy rains or drought can shift the soil beneath your home, leading to sagging floors or structural damage in your crawl space. Repairing these issues restores stability and protects your home from further problems.

FAQs

The cost to remove mold from a crawl space can vary greatly depending on several factors, including the extent of the mold growth, the accessibility of the crawl space, and the specific services required. On average, mold removal from a crawl space can range from $500 to $6,000. It is best to get a detailed inspection and quote from a professional mold remediation service to understand the costs for your specific situation.

The best way to waterproof a crawl space foundation is by implementing a combination of methods. This includes sealing any foundation cracks, installing a vapor barrier to cover the crawl space floor, ensuring proper drainage with a French drain and sump pump system, and potentially encapsulating the crawl space entirely. Consulting with a crawl space repair specialist can help determine the most effective solution for your property.

Standing water or moisture under your house is often caused by improper drainage around your property. This could be due to poor grading, blocked gutters, or downspouts that do not direct water away from the foundation. It could also result from a high water table or plumbing leaks. Addressing these issues with proper drainage solutions is crucial to prevent further moisture damage.

The type of warranty offered on crawl space structural repairs can vary by service provider. In general, reputable companies offer warranties that range from 25 years to lifetime coverage depending on the specific repair and materials used. It is important to discuss warranty details with your contractor to understand what is covered.

Replacing crawl space support beams involves removing the existing beams and installing new ones, which is typically necessary when the beams are severely damaged or weakened. On the other hand, reinforcing involves adding additional support to the existing beams, such as sistering them with new lumber or using metal braces. Reinforcement is a less invasive option often chosen when the damage is not extensive. Both options should be assessed by a structural engineer to determine the most appropriate solution.
