"In early 2025, I watched the series of videos put out by Mike Rowe on his Youtube channel where he accompanied a Groundworks team on a jobsite and then interviewed Matt Malone, Groundworks' founder. Those videos encouraged me to put Groundworks on my contact list because I knew we would eventually contract them to help us with water and foundation issues for our raised foundation home in southern California. I first met with DALTEN in December 2025 to discuss our areas of concern and receive his inspection. He spent literally hours thoroughly measuring and documenting our home's underbelly before coming to the table to meet with me over his tablet device on which he recorded all the information we needed to make an informed decision in the approach to repairs. Their balanced use of technology and face-to-face discussion was exactly what was needed to effectively communicate with us about the whole process. We signed on that evening to schedule the work. I scheduled with them to start in January 2026. The Groundworks system emailed and texted with me to keep me updated on time of arrival and what to expect throughout the project. On the first day, ROGER, JUAN, and JORGE came to our property right on time and were ready to go within minutes, fully suited up for their mission under our house. Roger projected 4 or 4.5 days for the job completion and he stuck to that; they began Monday and ended Thursday. Dalten and Roger worked to ensure our plan was both achievable and met the engineer's specifications with respect to the leveling beam installation. A modification was made on the fly to rework some of our trenching and the change was easily conducted electronically between the team and me. Roger discussed everything at the end with me over the phone since I was away. He also sent me photos of the finished product. After talking to Jorge, I decided to go under the house with him and Juan for a brief period so he could show me where future electrical would be needed to properly connect the pumps they installed. They were courteous to show me how to safely get into the crawl space and then how to exit. Finally, the guys went above and beyond by informing me about a leak point coming from one of our bathrooms and made recommendations for services outside the scope of their work based on what would be best for us. I cannot praise the Groundworks team enough, a really solid bunch of people who are doing home repair the right way. Thank you guys!"

Types of Driveway Damage in Moreno Valley

Common Causes of your Driveway Problems in Moreno Valley

Have you seen any cracking or uneven surfaces on your driveway? The climate and soil conditions in Moreno Valley can have a significant impact on driveways, leading to common issues. The grounds here are often composed of clay-rich soils, which expand when they absorb moisture. Over time, seasonal moisture swings can lead to soil heave, a phenomenon where the ground rises and falls, causing stress on driveway concrete or asphalt. These swelling soils can also shrink during dry periods, leaving voids under your driveway that result in sinking or cracking surfaces. It's this natural expansion and contraction in the earth beneath that commonly challenges driveways in your area.

When the foundation and subsoil of your driveway shift, it can create visible and potentially hazardous conditions. Cracks, potholes, and uneven surfaces not only affect the appearance of your property but also pose safety risks. Trapped moisture in surface cracks can lead to further degradation, especially during periods of heavy rain. Early detection of these signs allows homeowners to address minor issues before they become substantial problems, preserving both the aesthetics and safety of your property. Monitoring the condition of your driveway and being vigilant about repairs can effectively prevent more extensive damage over time.

FAQs

The cost to repair a concrete driveway in Moreno Valley typically ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 depending on the extent of the damage and specific repair methods used. Additional factors affecting cost include the size of the driveway and local labor rates.

A typical driveway repair or leveling project can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days. The specific duration depends on the size of the project, the techniques used, and weather conditions.

Whether a driveway needs to be repaired or replaced depends on the amount and type of damage. Minor cracks and surface wear can often be repaired, while extensive damage such as deep cracks, sinking, or a crumbling surface may require a full replacement.

Freeze-thaw cycles can cause concrete and asphalt driveways to expand and contract, leading to cracking, heaving, and eventual deterioration. In places like Moreno Valley, where temperatures fluctuate, this can accelerate damage if not properly maintained.

Resurfacing involves applying a new layer over the existing driveway to improve its appearance and surface condition. Lifting refers to raising sections of the driveway that have sunk using techniques like mudjacking or foam leveling. Replacing involves completely removing the old driveway and installing a new one, which is typically done when the driveway is extensively damaged.
