"We just experienced the absolute best dealing with Groundworks. From the initial inspection and estimate (Alan), to the prompt scheduling and confirmation of appointment the day before to the acknowledgement of ETA the morning of - every facet was top tier professional. Toy and Joey arrived on the job at the appointed time and immediately assesed the situation with our sunken 8' x 10' driveway pad section. I had diligently researched mud jacking, demo and reconcrete/finishing and polyurethane foam pad lifting. Wishing to keep the same color and finish after any repair, pad lifting seemed to be the best option. I have learned that pad lifting is an inexact science and succes or failure results in the ability of the technicians to "read" the concrete since composition of materials as well as the quality of the original pour must be factored in to know how much material (foam) should be applied and where to inject it so that cracking or over lifting can be avoided. Not only was the job done to my satisfaction but it was done with no cracking of the surface and leveled to match the other pads. It was only after the job was completed that Toy and Joey casually mentioned that they finished a job last night after dark and over 75 miles from my location. Both gentleman were curteous, respectful of me and my property and were a joy to work with. If you are old enough to remember high quality customer service provided in "the old days" or have only heard about it, you will be highly pleased with Groundworks and their highly skilled technicians. And, as an aside, Groundworks estimate beat all the other forms of repair. We highly recommend this crew and this company!"

Common Causes of your Driveway Problems in Palm Desert

Ever wondered why driveway surfaces in your area start showing wear and tear over time? Palm Desert's climate and environmental conditions play a significant role in impacting the longevity of driveways. The desert environment brings crucial factors to consider, such as periodic temperature fluctuations and occasional heavy rains. These elements can cause the ground beneath driveways to expand and contract, leading to cracking and surface damage. Additionally, the composition of the soil in certain neighborhoods, which might not always provide the ideal foundation, can contribute to uneven settling of the driveway pavement.

When the ground beneath your driveway is subjected to these environmental changes, it can exert upward pressure on the pavement—a phenomenon known as soil heave. This often results in noticeable cracks and uneven surfaces. The heavy monsoon rains typical in some seasons can worsen this effect by pooling water under the driveway, leading to further deterioration. Recognizing early warning signs like small cracks and slight shifts in your driveway can help you address potential issues before they escalate into significant problems, ensuring the longevity and aesthetics of your property's curb appeal.

FAQs

The total cost of driveway repair or replacement can be affected by factors such as the size and layout of the driveway, the extent of the damage, the materials chosen (asphalt, concrete, etc.), labor costs, accessibility of the site, and any necessary permits or local regulations.

Foam lifting and slab jacking methods typically do not require extensive excavation or heavy machinery. These techniques involve injecting material beneath the concrete to lift it, which is less invasive and more efficient than traditional methods that require breaking up and replacing the surface.

Whether a driveway needs repair or replacement depends on several factors such as the age of the driveway, the extent and type of damage (e.g., cracks, potholes), the underlying soil condition, drainage issues, and the overall integrity of the structure. A professional assessment can provide the best course of action.

The first step to getting a professional driveway evaluation in Palm Desert is to contact a reputable local driveway repair or installation company to schedule an appointment. They can provide a thorough inspection and recommend the appropriate services needed for your driveway.

While new concrete or asphalt will adhere somewhat to old surfaces, the bond is not usually strong enough for a durable repair. Proper preparation of the old surface, such as cleaning, sealing, and using bonding agents, is crucial to ensuring a successful overlay or repair.
