Why your neighbors trust Groundworks

We've earned 347 five star reviews.

"The Groundworks crew that worked on my home foundation did a great job. The foreman, Luis G. and co-foreman Ken H. did a great job of communicating what was they were going to do that day and what would happen over the week. The foreman and installers Mark P and Leo worked hard and it got hot over the two weeks they were here. On top of that they did a great job of cleaning up when they finished their portion. Just by installing the foundation stabilizing joints and piers (I had over 20 ), it actually raised the foundation significantly without breaking windows or adding cracks in my walls. They did a great job of cleaning up after putting the piers in. A warning if they put the tarp down for the dirt dug up for the piers, on your lawn it will damage it but I am sure it will grow back. About the only thing I could complain about was the two broken sprinkler heads but they repaired it and the concrete crew out today will work on the other one. I have been impressed with Groundworks, from the original inspector Chris H. to Luis G. and his crew, I am sure that David and his concrete crew will be great as well. It isn’t cheap but for the quality of work it is worth it. Based on their work so far I would recommend Groundworks."

Common Causes of your Driveway Problems in Pittsburg

Noticing your driveway showing signs of wear and tear? In Pittsburg and similar regions, the soil and climate can greatly impact the longevity of driveways. The local clay-heavy soil often shrinks and expands with changes in moisture levels from seasonal rainfall, leading to uneven surfaces and cracks in paved areas. Additionally, the temperature fluctuations cause the ground to expand and contract, which may place stress on the materials. This dynamic soil behavior, coupled with local drainage patterns, can cause your driveway to experience significant stress over time if not managed correctly.

These environmental pressures can lead to a variety of issues with your driveway, including cracks, potholes, or even sinking sections. If you've noticed pooling water or shifting in the surface, these could be signs that the soil underneath is no longer stable, potentially affecting the structural integrity of the driveway. Addressing these problems early can save you from more extensive repairs or replacements. It's important to monitor for these common signs and understand how the specific conditions around Pittsburg impact the ground beneath driveways to ensure they remain safe and functional.

FAQs

The most affordable way to fix a driveway depends on the extent of the damage. For minor cracks or surface damage, resurfacing or sealing can be cost-effective. For more significant issues like sunken slabs, techniques such as slab jacking or foam lifting are cheaper alternatives to full replacement.

No, foam lifting or slab jacking methods do not require extensive excavation or heavy machinery. These processes involve injecting materials beneath the concrete to lift it back into place, which is minimally invasive and can often be completed in a shorter timeframe than traditional methods.

Using a driveway with uneven or sunken areas is not recommended, as it can pose a safety hazard, increase the risk of vehicle damage, and potentially lead to further deterioration of the pavement. It's advisable to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent accidents and more costly repairs down the line.

The best time to repair or replace a driveway in Pittsburg is during the spring or early fall. These seasons typically offer milder weather conditions, making it ideal for paving and repair work, allowing materials to cure properly without the interference of excessive rain or extreme temperatures.

Resurfacing involves applying a new layer of material over the existing pavement to improve its appearance and durability. Lifting, often done through slab jacking or foam lifting, involves raising a sunken concrete slab back to its original position. Replacing a driveway involves completely removing the old pavement and installing new material, which is usually more costly and time-consuming but necessary when the driveway is extensively damaged.
