"This will be a follow-up 5 star review. FSS, now Groundworks, installed a seal system and a sump pump in our crawlspace in 2023. The back-up battery recently began to malfunction. The company sent Isaac to investigate. He was timely and spent a a couple of hours trouble shooting to make sure there were no other issues. Sure enough, he found an issue with the sump pump that was actually the underlying problem. He made the effort to return to his office, quite a distance from our house, to get the necessary parts to fix the problem and then returned to fix it. He also swapped out the battery which had become defective due to the underlying issue. It would have been easy for him to simply do the latter, and our problem would have persisted without us knowing it. This extra trouble-shooting effort made a difference, in other words. What also particularly pleased me was that Isaac was also the tech who had come to our house last spring - continuity matters, especially for a company like Groundworks-FSS. The facts speak for themselves as to the quality of the service. We are very pleased."
Common Causes of your Driveway Problems in Texas City
Soil Erosion
Over time, water or wind can erode the soil beneath your driveway, creating empty spaces that lead to sinking or cracking concrete.
Poor Soil Compaction
If the soil under your driveway wasn't compacted properly during installation, it can settle unevenly, causing cracks and dips to form.
Tree Root Growth
Roots from nearby trees may grow under your driveway, pushing against the concrete and causing cracks or lifting as they expand.
Freeze-Thaw Cycles
When water in the soil freezes and thaws repeatedly, it expands and contracts, putting stress on your driveway and leading to cracks or uneven surfaces.
Heavy Loads
Your driveway may crack or settle under the weight of heavy vehicles or equipment, especially if the concrete wasn't designed for such loads.
Drainage Issues
Poor drainage can allow water to pool and seep beneath your driveway, eroding the soil and damaging the concrete over time.
Moisture Changes
When saturated, clay soil expands, and when dry, it contracts. These constant changes in moisture levels weaken the support beneath the concrete.
