"ABOVE AND BEYOND! Rick always called at the beginning of the day to let me know their arrival time. Before they begin work each day Rick tells me what they plan to accomplish that day. Because I work from home the team has been so thoughtful and minimized interruptions, foot traffic (by getting in/out through basement window), and especially noise. Where they went above and beyond were two instances; 1) when they cleaned out one gutter drain seeing all the water that was coming into the basement from it being clogged. This was so they can do a cleaner job in that area of the house. Rick also recommended I hire a gutter company to do a more thorough cleaning and maintenance. And 2) when Rick looked into the sump pump after I asked him to, which I know is not in their scope. He confirmed the noise is normal and the pump is working properly. He even asked Victor to tape up the pipes coming out of the ground to provide some stabilization and hopefully reduce the noise. Rick and his crew are a professional, respectful, efficient crew. They do a very thorough and excellent work! I know I made the right decision going with Groundworks having worked with Rick and his crew!"
Common Causes of your Basement Problems in Fountain
Ever noticed how homes in your area seem to develop basement issues after heavy rains? This often happens due to the unique interplay between the local soil and moisture patterns found around Fountain. The region experiences varying moisture levels, which cause the expansive clay-rich soils to drastically swell and shrink. During wet periods, this soil can absorb substantial water, leading to soil heave where it expands upward. Conversely, during dry spells, it contracts, leaving gaps around your home's foundation, ripe for settling. This cycle, paired with natural topography that may direct water towards homes, creates a perfect storm for basement water infiltration challenges.
These environmental factors can significantly stress your home's foundation and below-grade walls, leading to common signs like cracks in the basement walls, uneven floors, or doors that seem to stick. Pooling water in the basement or crawl space is another red flag suggesting the need for waterproofing solutions. Early detection of these issues is essential as it helps prevent more serious structural damage and mold growth. Keeping an eye out for these warning signs in homes around Fountain can be key to maintaining a dry, secure, and healthy living environment.
