Concrete Lifting Solutions
What are the best solutions for concrete cracking and settling? As you may have expected, it depends substantially on where the problem is and what’s happening exactly. Concrete settling solutions may look different depending on the actual problem you’re trying to tackle.
The traditional method of repairing cracking and sinking concrete has been a process called mudjacking. This method involves drilling soda can-sized holes into the concrete, pumping a heavy concrete slurry mix under the slab until it hardens enough to lift the slab back up, and then waiting for the mix to cure. This process is invasive, time-consuming, and expensive.
However, a better alternative to concrete lifting is investing in polyurethane injections. The process is similar to mudjacking, but much more effective. Small, penny-sized holes are drilled into the concrete and polyurethane foam is injected underneath the slab. This foam is light but durable, waterproof, eco-friendly, and cures faster than the heavy concrete mix involved in mudjacking. Once the foam fills the void under the slab, the concrete will be effectively lifted back towards its original level position. You can even walk or drive on the newly repaired concrete within 15 minutes after the polyurethane foam has been installed!

Absolute installation professionals compared to the troubles we had with the office contracts and sales teams providing the actual work we asked, signed and paid for. We were impressed with George’s leadership, words of encouragement and very positive attitude when our water problems were much deeper and greater than usual. All 3 team members were absolute professionals. Calling in 3 more support members on day 5 to get our pumps running introduced friendly and hard workers and overtime hours to get us functional as fast as possible. George, Russell and Kade are an asset with never a complaint even with an extensive change order I asked for last minute on day 8 of a 4-day project. The change order worked out even better than envisioned with their installation solutions. Maybe these 3 will end up running the office sooner than later with their excellent attitudes of “we’ll make it happen, boss.” “No problem at all”… on day 8 of a 4-day project. That positive attitude showing through all of the exhaustion, mud and water carried to fill their entire dumpster. Ya’ll deserve a bonus after this one! We are elated we finally have a dry basement floor and can remodel and move back in.

He was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The install team came out about a week or so later to install the new system. Nasir was the crew leader and had 2 co workers with him, but I don’t remember there names. I was extremely impressed by their work ethic. These guys came in and didn’t stop until the job was done. JES came in to waterproof my basement, which is a huge job, as they had to put a drain around the full perimeter of my basement and install a vapor barrier in a fully finished basement. This was after I had visible mold. The person who came in for the quote, Brendan, didn't try to sell me a whole bunch of extra stuff, told me straight up how it works, what they were going to do, and did so in a timely manner. He was very helpful with all my questions and woes. The crew that came out, the foreman Abdul, co-foreman Joseph, and installer Nilton were all professional and completed the job quickly and efficiently. I knew there was mold still in the wall, so they took the whole wall down; most companies would not do that, nor would they put the steps back, which they did the best they could, which I was very happy about, because there was mold hiding all the way up the wall behind some of the studs. They worked with all my needs, scheduled the job, and completed the job to my satisfaction over about a two-week period. Most other companies were 6 weeks out to schedule a job. They did all of this, pulled permits, and had it inspected for a better or same price than two other direct competitors.

Eval & quote in Decatur, IN – I have been having foundation issues for years. I hired one company to come and waterproof and provide a solution. Well, the results haven't lasted as long as I wanted them to. So after researching companies, I contacted Groundworks. Amy Volka showed up at my door, on time for my evaluation. I have mobility issues so she let me know that there was a pipe leaking which I appreciated. She did a thorough exam of outside and inside. We talked for a long time about her findings. She showed me some educational videos and info on her laptop. She explained what I would need to create the best result, what I would need to handle before they come start working, lots of details. Amy was very detailed with the information. She drew up a plan on her laptop in her vehicle. 10-15 minutes later she could show me the 10 page detailed contract. I liked that they have inhouse engineers & permit department. I like that if I sell my house, the lifetime warranty for work can transfer to the next owner. I signed because the details were so great and thorough. She even mentioned that they do sidewalk leveling so I jumped on that too before anyone gets hurt on my sidewalks. I gave her a down payment check which she was willing to hold until I transferred the funds. We have been checking in with each other on fund transfer, my required updates progress, and she got me a 2 week start date. I have been thoroughly impressed with Amy and the company. Amy helped ease my anxiety and worry about my foundation and gave me faith in a more permanent solution.

Of the 4 companies we had come out, her presentation was the best. Austin (job foreman) and David were prompt, polite and ready to work when they got here. Austin explained what they were doing. When he finished, he sat with me and explained the results, even going so far as to compare them to last year’s results and the results from 2018. We had piers added to our 3-season room. Tyler did a great job with the excavator, minimized the mess to the yard and house even though we got over an inch of rain the day he dug it up. Very professional and pleasant to work with. He is coming back to place the concrete patio back in June after the soil settles. Likewise working with Reina who came and pumped concrete under out 3-season floor after the foundation was prepared. She communicated well and did a nice job. We had some work done recently on our driveway and it was not a great experience, so I wasn't exactly excited to do this again for our patio. I wanted to work with someone not involved in the driveway work so I called Groundworks. Sheldon came to give me an estimate on my back patio and in the course of our conversation we told him about work done (and not well done) by other companies and he graciously took a look at the driveway. Because of my prior experience, I honestly just wanted to get a quote for the patio and have this salesman go away. But Sheldon was so patient, funny and informative in explaining what Groundworks could do, and could not do, to address all our cement and levelling issues that he started to "win me over". In the end, we signed a contract with Groundworks based on Sheldon's extreme confidence not only in himself, but the quality of his company and the work they do. Work has been scheduled but not completed, but I am confident Goundworks will do a good job and I will be back to write a review on the finished work.

Reviewing just the quoting process: Trevor P. came out to do our quote for foundation and floor settling. He was incredibly thorough in the process, looking at signs of wear on both levels of the house, and taking plenty of measurements to map out out floors on the downstairs level. He spent plenty of time explaining what he was looking for and why, and making sure we understood the science of what was happening. Ultimately we did go for another quote out of a preference for "good enough to be safe" over "as perfect as possible", but if this was our forever home I would 100% have picked AFS to do the work. I can't promise they'll be the pick for you, but I do still highly recommend you get a quote with them in your process.

There were actually 2 of them-one dead and one alive. We got rid of the dead one and she saved the other one. She taped around the openings to the pump and saved the day. This is a follow up to my prior review of Alpha Foundations. After reading my initial review, Alex (The General Manager) conctacted me to chat about my experience. I left the conversation with a better understanding of the initial inspection process and thoroughly impressed with the overall customer service of everyone I came into contact with at Alpha. From the sales team, field techs and management, my customer service experience was top notch. It's obvious to me that customer service and satisfaction is at the top of their priority list and it resonates througout the organization. Although I experienced a very minor issue with the initial diagnosis of the problems my property was having, I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again in the future and would recommend them to friends and family.

Watching dj do his inspection was very impressive. No other company that came to quote me did such a through job. Once I decided on the work. My appointment came and josh and William did such a fabulous job. I noticed the leveling of my concrete slabs right away. Also very impressed with how highly professional and friendly they were. After the work was done, they cleaned up. I am satisfied with the high level of professionalism and quality these amazing people did for my home. I was told to even expect dj to come back and make sure everything will be reevaluated to know my home is stable and no farther problem remain in my foundation. Thank you all. Jay Yount was great salesperson and Ceritified Field Inspector. Foreman David P and crew mates Ernesto "Nestor" and James C were knowledgeable and efficient, arrived on time and got the job done in two days. Results of the floor stabilization were communicated to me clearly before, during and after the work was performed. All my expectations were at least met. Would definitely recommend Tar Heel to friends and family.
