Concrete Lifting Solutions
What are the best solutions for concrete cracking and settling? As you may have expected, it depends substantially on where the problem is and what’s happening exactly. Concrete settling solutions may look different depending on the actual problem you’re trying to tackle.
The traditional method of repairing cracking and sinking concrete has been a process called mudjacking. This method involves drilling soda can-sized holes into the concrete, pumping a heavy concrete slurry mix under the slab until it hardens enough to lift the slab back up, and then waiting for the mix to cure. This process is invasive, time-consuming, and expensive.
However, a better alternative to concrete lifting is investing in polyurethane injections. The process is similar to mudjacking, but much more effective. Small, penny-sized holes are drilled into the concrete and polyurethane foam is injected underneath the slab. This foam is light but durable, waterproof, eco-friendly, and cures faster than the heavy concrete mix involved in mudjacking. Once the foam fills the void under the slab, the concrete will be effectively lifted back towards its original level position. You can even walk or drive on the newly repaired concrete within 15 minutes after the polyurethane foam has been installed!

We had an absolute mess of a basement and crawlspace. After having several estimators come out, it was immediately clear that FSM was the right choice. Don was incredibly informative and helpful. He didn’t just teach me about their products—he gave me general knowledge that was genuinely valuable as a homeowner. He always answered my calls and texts, no matter the question, and offered guidance on anything basement-related. I can’t say enough kind things about him. The crew that did our basement—Jakob W., Denzel K., William H., and Eloy M.— worked HARD. Not only were they all respectful, but they put in at least 10 hours a day for four days straight to get our basement in order. Jakob maintained excellent communication the entire time. At the end of each day, he walked me through the progress and patiently answered my million questions with thoughtfulness and care. He even helped me move the water heater up the final step I couldn’t manage—and he and another team member carried it back down for me afterward. We will absolutely be calling FSM again for anything basement or foundation-related—and we’ll be asking for Jakob and his team specifically. When he had questions about the job, he reached out to my foundation engineer directly to have a conversation. He was great! Aaron Hudson was the tech that came to do the work. They did a fantastic job lifting and leveling a sunken section of concrete driveway. It looks like new! After completing the repairs in only a couple of hours, they cleaned up everything. Wow!! I called out Ohio Basement Authority for an inspection of our basement, the small 6×10 extension on the back seemed to be sagging away from the house and we had a significant dip in our large living area of the main floor. Cracks in the walls on the extension. We had another company come out and quote us, their quote was for work that I didn’t think was necessary, and also very expensive. Wanted a second opinion so we called out Ohio Basement Authority, Justin Murphy was our inspector. What an experience. Such a great informative human. He gave me the introduction of the company, we walked around my home, he showed me what was wrong with my home and why. I seen there is no difference in height along the perimeter of my home, no need for peiring. Also discovered the original worry was a bowed wall that needs replaced. Solution to the sagging, new pillars in the basement main support beam. And as a bonus, OBA will be insulating all the basement walls, floor to ceiling, allowing us to use more of our home as a living space. It’s such a victory to reality. I’m so thankful Justin was our Inspector. Very personable gentleman! Was not your traditional sales pitch. Very enjoyable experience at less than half the price of the other guys. Looking forward to the instal!!

My goal was to extend the life of a 17 year old driveway.(the drop was almost 3inches) I was very happy with the initial result. Overtime the driveway had dropped a bit and I am even more impressed with a company that stands by their work and honours their warranty! Excellent professional service! We had the sump pump system installed a year ago and today we had our first annual service to ensure everything is still working as it should. We've had no problems with the system so far but decided to get a battery back up and WiFi monitoring added. The price is worth it to us for the added peace of mind. Adrian Ramos had everything in his truck already and was able to complete installation of everything in less than two hours. Super friendly, prepared, and helpful. Excellent work! Thank you Adrian!! The original installation last year was completed with no problems. The guys were on time, very focused and tidy, excellent workmanship, very professional.

These guys take an OVERWHELMING process and make it simpler than my wife and I could have ever imagined. From the free no-pressure consultation with Bradley Cooper (no, not that one) to the actual lifting process, we always felt like we understood what was going on and they were excellent at respecting our schedules. Zach Lamos was our project leader through the process of actually putting the piers into the bedrock under the corner of our house that was sinking. He even came out on a Saturday to help me take some boards off of the deck in order to prepare for the pier process. We can't say enough about how this team helped to give us some peace of mind during what could easily become an absolute disaster of a project. If you are considering going with a different company, don't!
