Concrete Lifting Solutions
What are the best solutions for concrete cracking and settling? As you may have expected, it depends substantially on where the problem is and what’s happening exactly. Concrete settling solutions may look different depending on the actual problem you’re trying to tackle.
The traditional method of repairing cracking and sinking concrete has been a process called mudjacking. This method involves drilling soda can-sized holes into the concrete, pumping a heavy concrete slurry mix under the slab until it hardens enough to lift the slab back up, and then waiting for the mix to cure. This process is invasive, time-consuming, and expensive.
However, a better alternative to concrete lifting is investing in polyurethane injections. The process is similar to mudjacking, but much more effective. Small, penny-sized holes are drilled into the concrete and polyurethane foam is injected underneath the slab. This foam is light but durable, waterproof, eco-friendly, and cures faster than the heavy concrete mix involved in mudjacking. Once the foam fills the void under the slab, the concrete will be effectively lifted back towards its original level position. You can even walk or drive on the newly repaired concrete within 15 minutes after the polyurethane foam has been installed!

The project manager, Joshua, came out to look at our cracking concrete patio, diagnosed the issue, and had a cost-effective solution for us. He also provided all the information we needed to get a quick approval from our HOA. The team that did the work, Tory & Blake, were on time, efficient, and highly skilled. Not only did they stabilize the concrete patio using their foam injection process, they spent a lot of time caulking and smoothing all the cracks (literally on their hands & knees) doing a meticulous job. The process worked so well, it actually lifted one section and eliminated a 1" difference in height so no more trip hazard either. This time they did structural work to my home. They installed helical piers under a section that had no foundation. They added a beam across to support the piers and replaced rotted wood that they came across, as well. In the basement they installed waterproofing membrane and vertical steel beams along the wall. Looks good, we shall see if it stands the test of time.

After calling AFS, we meet with their inspector who conducted a thorough inspection and explained all areas of concern. When the time came for the repairs, AFS was in constant communication with us and gave an accurate estimate of their arrival. The crew that showed up (Jackson, Micah, and Mikey) were fantastic! They aren’t even finished with our project yet, they’re about to end day 1/2 and I am impatient and just had to say this. My husband and I are newlyweds. We are young, inexperienced with contractors, and we were nervous because all we hear about are horror stories of people who come to work on something at your home. These guys are beyond incredible. The entire company is obviously so competent, professional and passionate. Everyone from Ben Sizemore who gave us 4 HOURS OF HIS TIME to sit down with us and go through every detail of this project, down to the foreman Trent Baker who headed up his team of 3 guys as they’ve spent the entire day working. I’m blown away by everyone’s kindness, cleanliness, professionalism, etc. and these are young men!! They all deserve raises, compliments, and when (not if because you must) you hire them, go to the store and buy them snacks and drinks. They deserve it. I wish this company did regular home renovations because it feels like it can only go down from here haha! Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making our very first home improvement a wonderful experience. I’m so beyond grateful. I’ll update my review after they’re all finished. I know it’ll be even better tomorrow. 🤍

I had a great experience with Bakers Waterproofing today. I used their concrete lift service on my driveway and front sidewalks. The team I had was awesome. Aaron Lenker and Anthony West were fantastic. They were very professional, friendly, and efficient. Aaron reviewed the work ahead of time to make sure we were on the same page and based on his experience we avoided some potential problems. After watching the process I can say Aaron was a real artist at the lifting process and Anthony was a pro at the joint sealing process. Mark and Brandon were two employees who visited my home for the repair of a large crack in my garage and also caulking around the perimeter of partial of my outside house foundation. They are excellent. Friendly and not impatient with me with answering my questions. Brandon is a professional and cordial young man and presents himself well. Mark is exceptionally friendly and forthright with what the plan was. They could only complete some of the work due to my garage situation and he told me that. And was thorough with the notes at what had to be done. He explained that I will have to call the company to discuss a refund due to the fact they could not complete the original order due to my garage floor situation. I appreciate his honesty and explanation. The floor looks better than it did due to the minimal lifting of the floor they were able to do. They did an excellent job with caulking and sanding. I had a positive experience with Groundworks, a company recommended by our general contractor, Archive. Their field inspector, Jamie Tobin, visited our home and left a great impression. Jamie was friendly and informative throughout the inspection. He took careful measurements of our house and patiently answered all our questions and concerns. His thorough approach was appreciated and helped us understand the process better. Our initial impressions of Groundworks are quite positive. Based on what we've seen so far, we're hopeful about working with them more in the future. They seem to have the experience necessary to address our home's foundational issues effectively. Overall, we're optimistic about Groundworks' ability to help with our project and appreciate the professionalism shown by their team, especially Jamie.

Paris Houchins and Bug Boyd did an absoluty fabulous job of permanently stabilizing my driveway and walkway. Our home is 16 years old and over the last couple of years we have noticed a number of small cracks appearing and some unevenness developing befeeen the concrete slabs. We called AFS to evaluate and their service technician, Nikoli Elrod, recommended that we inject the area with a high density foam to both stabilize the cracking areas and raise the sunken slab. Their Poly Renewal process worked like a charm and achieved both of the above goals. Paris and ‘Bug’ called as they left the shop to confirm their arrival time and give me oooortunity to move our cars. They arrived exactly when they said they would. Reviewed the scope of work and even photographed the locations of gas, electric and water lines to be sure the job was safely done. They worked with intention, updated me at the midway point of the project and finished ahead of schedule. Lastly, they left my home, yard and drive in an impeccably clean state. Couldn’t hardly tell they had been there other than my concrete was now level and cracks sealed:) Would recommend this company and crew to anyone needing to stabilize their concrete. Thanks! Regan
